Violins by Nicolas and Alessandro Gagliano

    These are two violins that I have known and studied since the late 1970’s. Outstanding examples of the makers from Naples, Italy. Alessandro lived from 1640 to 1730. His son Nicolas lived from 1675 to 1763. The Alessandro Gagliano violin was made circa 1715.
The Nicolas Gagliano violin was made circa 1740.  Both of these instruments have been documented and certified by leading violin experts. Recently, I had the task and the pleasure of helping the owner of this collection find new owners for these wonderful instruments.
The collection included these fine Gagliano violins, beautiful French bows by A. Lamy , and a Sand & Bernandel bow.  For the privacy of the buyers and sellers, the prices paid can not be disclosed. However, this collection sold for well into the six figures.
